SF2 E-CCR

SF2 E-CCR

Mohammad Hosseinpour |

The SF2 is an exceptional, unique rebreather which is unlike any other unit on the market today. The SF2 is a CE-approved, complete electronic closed-circuit rebreather which is engineered and designed in Germany.

"Keep it simple!"
Was the leading mission statement while engineering the SF2

The SF2 is configured very cleanly and simply. Compared to other rebreathers, the SF2 is compact and well-arranged. The reason: All important components are integrated into the carbon fibre tube. Therefore, the SF2 needs significantly less volume compared to other rebreathers. Tests, as well as various certifications, assure a constant level of security while diving. The SF2 is especially suitable for ambitious technical dives. It is available as either a backmount or sidemount rebreather.

Backmount and Sidemount

The SF2 is the only commercially available rebreather which is convertible from backmount to sidemount. A backmount unit can be quickly converted in under 10 minutes into a sidemount unit and vice versa.

Streamlined Design and Easily Built

As if it were designed from one piece, the SF2 is shaped cleanly and simply. Moreover, the carbon fibre tube gives the SF2 a new, streamlined and high-quality design. The assembly and disassembly of the SF2 is very simple as the entire tube can be removed and all the internal parts easily reached.

Compact Installation

The electronic chamber is located within the head. The adapters of the breathing hoses are mounted at a slight angle on the head. This leads to a perfect positioning of the unit, as well as being, incredibly comfortable.

The scrubber canister is located between the head and midsection. Concerning the midsection, two different requirements of modern rebreathers are combined. First, you can find the bypass (ADV) which provides gas in case of low volume in the system. Second, the adapters of the “Manual Add” are located here.

Carbon Fiber Body

The body of the SF2 is made of rugged aircraft-grade carbon fiber which provides protection from harsh elements and temperatures in a lightweight form factor. With 3L steel tanks and a stainless steel backplate, the ready to dive unit weighs 73 lbs. Only 24.6 lbs in sidemount mode.

Electronic Chamber
The electronics chamber is the heart of the SF2: the head includes the oxygen solenoid, O2 sensors and the battery compartment. The oxygen solenoid is made from corrosion resistant materials and manufactured by Jaska. The entire electronics compartment is o-ring sealed and the CANBUS electronics are potted in epoxy resin. This prevents damage to critical systems in the event of water intrusion. electronic plate is located below the battery compartment. High-quality SMB angle plugs connect the plate with the sensors.

Unique Positioning of Counter Lung

Compared to other rebreathers that, typically counter lungs on rebreathers are positioned on the chest, above the shoulders or on the back of the diver, the SF2 differs in the unique positioning of the counter lung. Often, the counter lung is positioned on the chest. In contrast, the SF2's counter lung is located in the lower tube. This leads to an ideal diver's position in the water and low resistance.

Automatic Diluent Valve (ADV)

The SF2 Rebreather's Stainless Barrel ADV is activated by the bellows depressing a stanless plunger assembly.

Shearwater Petrel DiveCAN Controller

The solenoid is controlled by the Shearwater Petrel DiveCAN. The solenoid is closed at rest and and gas is only injected when energized.

O2 Sensors

The O2 sensors for the SF2 have gold plated coax style connections, rather than typical Molex-style connections on other rebreathers, and is connected to the circuit board with high-quality SMB angle plugs.

Manual Adds & Off Board Gas Connector

The “Manual Adds” enable you to add both oxygen and diluent manually. The “Off Board Gas Connector”  allows you to add external gas. Hence, the fundamental idea of redundancy while diving is completely secured. Construction-conditioned the entire periphery works while applying “Off Board Gas”.

SF2 ECCR SIDEMOUNT REBREATHER

he SF2 ECCR is certainly the most popular Sidemount rebreather in the world. Its compact size, combined with a low weight and a robust structure make the SF2 Sidemount a popular and reliable companion on exploration dives around the globe. The basic components are taken from the SF2 Backmount version. The SF2 Sidemount has the same compact electronics chamber and inner bellows counterlung. The upper and lower tube are constructed of a very light, yet durable carbon fiber.

MIDDLE PART

The SF2 Sidemount rebreather has a new middle part with a manual O2 and Diluent button. Also, the buttons are protected for external damage.

SIDE MOUNT MOUTHPIECE

The SF2 Sidemount rebreather has a DSV mouthpiece especially designed for the sidemount application. In collaboration with the best Sidemount divers in the world, we have developed a unique mouthpiece with excellent features:

  • Optimum hose feed
  • Extreme small design
  • Bayonet hose fittings mouthpiece
  • Rotatable
  • Right / left hand use
  • In water neutrally buoyant
ATTACHMENT

To configure the SF2 Sidemount rebreather as close as possible to the body, it has three attachment points.

We’ve designed a stainless steel rail at the top of the head and included two large Boltsnaps in the central region held via a hose clamp to allow for a streamlined attachment to your existing harness. The Boltsnaps can be varied in position, so that the rebreather can be positioned individually.

PONY CLAMPS

High quality marine grade rust-free stainless steel bracket to attach pony bottle or battery canister to main cylinder. Extremely strong connection with quick release system.
